Dr. Dana Barkat

An ophthalmologist and surgeon with a subspecialty in corneal surgery and laser vision correction, she is a senior physician in the Department of Ophthalmology at Ichilov Hospital.
Dr. Dana Barkat earned her medical degree at Bar-Ilan University. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov).
After her residency, she completed a two-year clinical and surgical fellowship at the University of Toronto, Canada, in cornea, ocular surface disease and refractive surgery (procedures that correct vision and remove the need for glasses using laser). During her training she performed laser vision correction, corneal transplants and cataract surgery, and was exposed to some of the most complex cases in these fields. This training gave her experience with advanced surgical techniques and with tailoring treatment to the unique characteristics of each eye.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Barkat is engaged in research and has published more than 30 scientific papers in the international professional literature, including studies on laser vision correction and on corneal diseases and surgery. She actively participates in scientific conferences in Israel and abroad, presents her research, and serves as a lecturer and instructor in professional courses at the conferences of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
